    More Distractfold; H&N, Sat 1/4/17; 10:00pm

Following from what I thought was a wonderful edition of H&N last week, more from Distractfold's curation of last month's Cut & Splice mini-fest, with highlights from events shared in the Hallé's two saints venues (St Michael and St Peter) in Manchester. Electro-acoustic works by Murat Çolak (b 1984), Lee Fraser (b 1981), Sam Salem (b 1982), Katherine Young, Sabrina Schroeder (b 1979), Hanna Hartman (b 1961), and Ana Dall'Ara Majek (b 1980) - most of whose work is little, if at all, known to me. Looks very promising!

Recordings from the 2017 Cut and Splice festival, including Murat Colak and Lee Fraser.

They're all younger than me, too - but one only just! I think, to elaborate on the final sentence of my OP, it's not just the programme that "looks promising" - with keen, adventurous composers and performers (and often both at the same time) producing work of this calibre, the future of Music-making does, too!

The only one of those I know is Hanna Hartman, who is a fascinating performer (creating some very unlikely sounds out of various amplified objects), I wonder how her stuff comes across as audio-only.

Arriving home after a concert in Leeds, thinking I was about as over as Music could bowl me, I tuned into this evening - and Katherine Young's rather excellent String Trio turned the dial up to 11!

I found this whole programme (and last week's) completely compelling and compulsive re-listening via the i-Player - but that Trio was especially good.
