    Hcmf 2016

I see most (?) of the programme is now available online but still some gaps to be filled i think. Tickets available early October. HCMF doing things a little differently this year with more of a drip feed approach to programme content as far as i can see. If i'm honest i'm a little underwhelmed by what i've seen, so far, but no doubt i will be making the journey South. Any comments?

    A translation would be useful.

As would a link to the online details of the programme, so here it is:

Not the most convenient site to navigate: lots of clicks needed to get the details of each concert.

If I were within easy distance there are quite a few things I'd want to attend, although on the other hand maybe this is just me but the whole programme seems a bit randomly thrown together. There is a massively improved representation of women composers in comparison with past festivals, it seems to me at a first glance.

No - it's particularly annoying, after cutting your way through the undergrowth, to find that you can't order tickets yet! This is an unwelcome (and disturbing) "development" - usually, tickets go on sale in the second or third week of September. For the past five years or so, the "trickle" marketing has been used - with some tickets available from July, a few more in August, etc. I've never liked this, and have always bought tickets in bulk once the whole programme has been published. I hope the delay in the announcement of the full programme (because this can't be everything - just one event on the Wednesday?!) isn't indicative of serious administrative/funding problems.

And I agree that it does seem a hodge-podge of events (a series of concerts, rather than a Festival) this year; I've got just four concerts (plus chats and the Monday freebies) marked as unmissable - and at these prices, I won't be able to afford (m)any more if anything else is announced.

I have received an e-Mail telling me that booking for the Festival is now open. There doesn't appear to be anything added to the programme - and Wednesday is still confined to a couple of events.

The website is as tricky to negotiate as ever - and I've just lost my entire booking because my time ran out (partly because they didn't recognise my password from last year - then they wouldn't accept the new one that they sent me by e-Mail)

Greatly tempted to tell them to go forth with themselves and save my money. Shall sleep on it.

Third time lucky - after two frustrating failed attempts, everything went smoothly and my tickets are bought and on their way in the post.

Either that, or I've paid three times over!

For me, Elision Ensemble unmissable and will manage most of the Monday programme as well.
Is there a spot where Board users can meet for drinks?

Wednesday at the railway station might have a few surprises, too, Orph - and is close to The Head of Steam, which I understand has a fine selection of refreshments. For Elision, the traditional loitering outside St Paul's Hall five minutes after the doors were due to open, nostalgically remembering the days when hot drinks used to be provided is a good "ice breaker". Sometimes with actual ice needing breaking!
