It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
The original organ stop-activated drinks cabinet of the modern era, IIRC, is to be found on the 1978 Rieger organ of Ratzeburg Cathedral, where the late great Peter Hurford often recorded for Decca.
The stop-list revealed that the Rauschwerk stop opened a small drinks drawer, ‘rausch’ meaning intoxicated in German. The schnapps is located just above and to the left of the pedalboard.

Hi all, Anyone here ever come across a strange gadget on an organ? Perhaps a stop that does something unexpected? I once did some practice on a Saturday afternoon on the organ of St. Paul, Newcastle-under-Lyme and pulled a stop called the "Tibia Liquida". It isn't a playable stop though: it opens...
