    Catherine Ennis RIP

This doesn't appear have been noted so far here. Very sadly Cathy Ennis died of cancer late on Christmas Eve. An under-recognised organist (perhaps because she was so self-effacing) but universally loved in the organ world.

Such a tragic loss. Fond memories of concerts at St Lawrence, Jewry.

Very sad. I knew of her of course, but had no idea of her illness. Indeed a sad loss.
I hope the next edition of Choir and Organ will pay her due tribute.

There were a couple of fine tributes to Cathy on R3 Breakfast this morning (Monday 4.1.20), just after 7 am (by Petroc Trelawny himself - at one point he rather touchingly forgot himself and referred to her as Cathy, before reverting to the more formal Catherine) and shortly after 8.40 am (quoting a tweet by one of her former students). An excerpt from her last recording was played at 7, with a promise of more to follow in a future programme.
