The Abbey have their own record label called 'adfontes'. I have just been sent one of their CDs, a recording made by Martin Baker of the new Ruffatti organ. It is entitled Pictures at an Exhibition because Martin gives us a transcription of the piece. I'm not personally over-fond of organ transcriptions, but bear in mind Mussorgsky wrote it as a piano piece, and we most often hear it as a transcription...for orchestra.
However the CD also includes the Bach Passacaglia and pieces by de Grigny, Jongen and Widor (not the Toccata!).
The big plus is the generous booklet which includes a description of the organs (east and west), of their commissioning, of Ruffatti's work and the full specifications.
The organ certainly sounds fine as a recital instrument. Whether it will become fully accepted as a choral accompaniment instrument only time will tell.
