    Manchester Cathedral - Tickell organ

There was a reference to the organ on the Choir thread. I know nothing about any problems, but here's a link or two:

(If anyone's confused, it's called the Stoller Organ as 'Stoller' is the name of the person/charitable trust that funded it. It was made by Kenneth Ticlell's firm...Kenneth having sadly died.)

I've never been to Manchester cathedral. Is this organ completely new? It looks it. Does it replace an earlier one?

It does look amazing, and must have cost a fortune.

Is it particularly difficult to play unless you know it? At present Manchester Cathedral is not taking visiting choirs, and it's rumoured that the reason is something to do with the organ.

Where did you hear these rumours mopsus and I’m not sure what you are conveying in your first sentence? Either the organ is totally broken, which is unlikely with a brand new instrument and on present hearing obviously not the case, or is too complicated for a visiting organist to understand, which is totally ridiculous. Anyone from the cathedral care to comment?

Yes, it is completely new (except maybe for one or two stops). I know nothing about Manchester, but, generally speaking, I believe that it is not particularly unusual for there to be teething problems with new organs.
