    The Choir 16 Feb 2014

So, today's programme offers an interview and studio performance from a "vocalist" (not a choir) plus today's choral classic, Faure's Requiem. Performed by whom? No details I can find anywhere. That's so CFM....

    Shopping beckons.

Moira Smiley has a vocal/instrumental ensemble which seems to be a kind of folk-rock close harmony group. They have a new 'album' coming out, so maybe they'll be playing tracks from that rather than her performing on her own.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

      Cambridge Singers, three movements thereof
Sara Mohr-Pietsch meets vocalist Moira Smiley, who performs in the studio.

I'm afraid I switched off in the first Moira Smiley, that's how closed my mind is

And, oh the thrill of it, SMP gets to singalongamoira.
Cabaret stuff a la West Coast.
Sweet Honey in the Rock did it all years ago.

        Plus eviscerated Faure.

        Hmm.

Yet another programme being dragged down the sewer. SMP, CB-H, Cowan, Pet Rock etc- collectively looking like the wrecking crew.

Interesting silence: looks as if The Choir programme as presently set up is not making the impact intended?
              Specific reasons from anyone?
The more I listen, I'm afraid, the the more Radio 2 it seems.

Is there anything else worth checking out, Dracs?

but sadly missed this one, "folk-rock" it wasn't

Maybe a thread about the programme in general?

I have nothing further to say about the Feb. 16th one.

I sort of meant comments on the latest - 23rd.
I'm not really convinced yet that forum members care much about The Choir programme every week.

Shall I post up the contents of every week and leave it at that?

But this thread wasn't about this week's.

And I neither enjoyed nor disliked it enough to start one.

(I was surprised to be told that the beginning of Mozart's C minor Mass was in Greek, since you'd be hard put to it to find a mass that started any other way.)

                            (not for the faint hearted)

Does one need any further confirmation of the shallowness of the preparation of the programme's scripts? How did that gaffe get past any editorial process?
