Pretty decent authorities assembled, McCreesh should be very interesting on the subject.

Good programme, some genuine and interesting chat about real musical and philosophical issues. Paul McCreesh is an absolute natural. Pity he's not around to do it permanently.

Only just listened. Paul M and his guests knew the audience they were addressing...in other words exactly the right 'tone' was struck. It was a chronological jaunt through oratorio, beginning with a stunning extract from Carissimi's Jeptha (do catch that if nothing else in the few hours remaining!) and ending with The War Rquiem. My only sadness was that we didn't hear more of Richard Lewis in The Dream. He was, IMO, one of the finest of a past generation of English tenors.

The guests were excellent, John Mark A. who is clearly a thinking performer, and Peggy Reynolds who displayed astonishing knowledge and clarity of expression.

Sorry this is all rather late. Next one coming up this pm.
