We hear a lot of choirs from across the country on R3, but which ones would you like to hear more of?
Which choirs don't we hear from?

Is it the case that there is currently a 'local difficulty' about participating in CE which has more or less excluded Norwich? Their last one was in 2011
Of recent years, Worcs had CEs in 2007, 2009 and 2010 and 2011 at least. Don't forget the Three Choirs?
St Alban's in 2008, 2009, 2011

St Albans were booked to sing in October 2012 but the BBC changed the schedule to put on Wagner's Ring Cycle live from somewhere.
Great shame as the choir is currently very good indeed. They have just released a Mozart CD on Naxos recorded in The Summer of 2012 which has had very good reviews in Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine and will give members a pretty good idea of the choir's current shape in place of the cancelled broadcast. I was hoping that they might broadcast later this term but I doubt it as a tour to Italy, the massive Patronal Pilgrimage in June and the IOF Three Choirs will no doubt get in the way.
I last heard them singing a stunning concert a little while back in Stevenage which was standing room only.

Some choirs have had new DOMs and may have been asked by the BBC to broadcast but declined to until the new DOM felt the choir would do themselves justice (especially with boards such as this ready to cast their critical eye over the broadcast) Worcester were annual broadcasters and have recently handed over the reigns to Dr N - who was himself a fequent broadcaster in Chelmesford. Norwich have experienced personell changes over the past few years but I'm sure having given AG time they will again be invited. Chichester went off the radar after AT had left and SB took over but are now back on the annual list as is the recorded broadcast from the SCF. I'm sure that (as in the case of Exeter at present) the absence of the organ will be a factor.
There do seem to be limited opportunities for choirs from Cathedrals in Wales (apart from Ty Ddewi) Scotland (apart from St Mary's Edinburgh) NI, the RoI and some fringe Oxbridge Colleges to broadcast even on a bi or tri annual rota.
With only 52 week to broadcast, the truncated term times now and the summer vacation where CE recorded broadcasts used to be featured from the smaller provincial cathedrals and abbeys there are always going to be a limit to some opportunities.

Bullock in D
St James Grimsby, who broadcast regularly in the sixties and seventies. They once had a choir school too....
Is it still there?
When did Carlisle do one? St Mary's Warwick? Hexham Abbey? Inverness Cathedral?

Using the BBC Choral Evensong Underground Archive as a source which goes back to 2002 - the English Cathedral Choirs that have not been heard from are Bradford, Carlisle ans Leicester with Coventry's last gig in 2002. We haven't heard from Chelmsford or Newcastle lately nor Rochester since 2009.
Any reasons why? I can only guess that the call hasn't come.
