    Innovation at Ripon Cathedral

Following the recent changes to the Cathedral's choral foundation, the Cathedral has continued with it's vibrant and pioneering approach to its music programme with the Chapter announcing this morning an exciting new initiative for a replacement instrument while the Cathedral organ is being overhauled.

A harmonica band might also be a good way of 'broadening the appeal' ... might even replace the choristers ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Oh no! There would only be interminable arguments about whether you could tell the female ones from the male ones, & which was better.

Rather than replace the choristers completely, you could have a sort of antiphonal arrangement: half sung, half played.

Thank you all for being so constructive in helping a cathedral desperate and skint to continue its famous choral and organ tradition.
I'm sure they will have profited from all these helpful suggestions.

Or did you not notice the date?

                It was so beautifully subtle.

                Now you've spoiled it!

That might have been possible, Draco.

(unusually for me the self-censorship kicked in just in time )

Actually, I thought Mercia's Dmitriev version of the D minor was rather better than some I've heard in cathedrals recently.
