    Rowan Williams on Private Passions

Today's programme is revealing him to be musically informed and literate. Can we expect the same from his successor?

....it was a repeat from 2008. Must have missed it first time round....or forgotten.

I cannot claim to be au fait with the inner workings of the CofE, and so seek enlightenment.

Rowan Williams did seem to be a musical sophisticate, and worked hard to articulate his deep appreciation of music; his successor remains something of an unknown quantity. But I would not have expected the Primate, or any other Bishop, to have much practical influence on the music within the cathedrals. Is that not the province of the Dean and Chapter? And does a Bishop or Archbishop have any authority to intervene one way or another in matters of taste rather than liturgy?
