I'm still saying Chichester because as a sailor I know it's used as a landmark when sailing along the coast.

What did fellow listeners make of the string accompt.? I'm not sure if I like it,purely because CE is supposed to be a glimpse into every day worship.

Maybe the Smith responses were a jolly choice for an otherwise very Holy Week service, plainsong psalms and all.

On the subject of 'small' I did use inverted commas.

No idea, but it was very good to hear it (even if I didn't know what it was) when I switched the radio on this afternoon.

          as a sailor
Come away fellow sailors, come away, your anchors be weighing.

FTIOLL (new acronym: for the information of land lubbers) Admiralty charts put in conspicuous coastal features such as water towers and (latterly) TV masts. But probably the most common are church spires which have been used for centuries for navigational purposes.

Please note that this CE is NOT repeated on Sunday next.

Excuse very late posting. I've finally caught up with this broadcast, having been overseas when it first went out, and then read the thread. Were there once regular broadcasts from all these places? I can only recall one evensong broadcast from Leicester (and none from Christchurch Priory) in about the last 30 years, but I'm willing to be corrected on this.
