      But still very much alive, though now in France.

      We'll be going over there to sing for his 80th birthday next year.

        In the 80's Reading University used to make all its music students sing in the university choir, with interesting results. I don't know what its musical life is like now.
        Bristol University has a number of ensembles open to all students, though the standard goes up and down.
        Bath is a scientific university so has never had a music department and extra-curricular music has never been a very high priority, though it did arrange tuition. I used to have singing lessons there and my teacher would make derisory comments about the University's budget and the fact that none of it was devoted to providing a piano for teaching on which all the keys worked.
