    Marie-Claire Alain

Many members of The Choir Forum, especially those with organ music connections, will be sad to hear of the death of Marie-Claire. In case anyone has not spotted it, the main thread is under Talking About Music:

General topics, The Listening Service, Music Matters, concert-going/listening, news

Indeed, a major loss to the organ world. Had the pleasure of hearing her several times.

(Ashamed that I missed this news until a friend posted it on Facebook.)

Very surprised -and slightly miffed- that there have been no contributions to this thread. Marie-Claire was an incredible women and one of the greatest organists of all time. Several of my friends took master classes with her -was not able to do so myself- and they never forgot the experience.

But perhaps she was more appreciated in the States.

Perhaps because the principal thread is here: http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...aire-Alain-RIP
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
