Thank you, jean, from the EMS department for drawing our attention to this.

The grim reaper has a field week, as Van Cliburn has died too (following Sawallisch and MC Alain).

Eric Ericson's recordings efectively introduced me into the world of the a-capella choral music.
Both his late 1970s 5 LP-sets on EMI (Europäische Chormusik and Virtuose Chormusik ) with music between Monteverdi and Castiglioni showed me that there was more under the sun than orchestral/instrumental music.
A great choral conductor has passed away
    RIP Eric Ericson

On our choir tours to Sweden (twinned with a diocese near Stockholm), local singers would speak of Eric Ericson with awed reverence. Their patron saint of choral singing.
Apparently, over a quater of a million Swedes (pop. 9.5M) sing in choirs.

There will be a tribute to Eric Ericson featured in The Choir on Sunday week, 31 March, at 5pm.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Oops...I've just started a new thread in anticipation of Easter Sunday's The Choir.
