Well, I am able loudly to quote Archimedes. The whole thing became very obvious when the penny finally dropped.

The chap I've been seeking is that gifted and prolific New Zealander, Dr C S Lang. The light bulb went off when I was looking for something else and stumbled across his "Exercises for Organists" which I used years ago for RCO preparation. His Psalm 8 is, I suppose, a verse-anthem and really is a brilliant setting. I have not heard it sung in more than sixty-five years and am surprised that it is not more widely heard. Perhaps DracoM could persuade one of his chums to give it a go.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

C.S.Lang was a good old trooper. One remembers his arrangements of war-horse canticles (Stanford in B flat Mag/VW's Te Deum in G) for choir plus massed public school voices...a stirring sound with organ in full cry. Are they still done anywhere?
