No old chap. Though I'm not surprised that you didn't get through it - it was a tough ask. Had I not had a few beers and therefore been in the mood for rolling about laughing, I expect I would have pressed the mute button quite quickly.
I suppose it was no more bizarre than a 12-year-old treble singing Norma would have been...
What a wonderful, fantastic, indispensable clip. At a stroke, it justifies the vast expense of training boys (and yes, young girls) to sing the liturgy.
Ummm. The suggestion to visiting organists at St. Paul's is generally that the volume of full swell with the box closed or its equivalent on other manuals is the most that one can use without drowning a choir. The Dome Chorus, Tubas and Trompette Militaire would have been my choice. I imagine that these would not have been available on the USB given to the organist on this day.
I don't mind the rather tight vibrato (it's not a pitch wobble), but her tuning is not impeccable. In fact the whole choir has gone a bit flat just before the Gloria. Does one have to sing it that slowly in St Paul's?
And surely there's no need to take a breath before "shall call me bessed". We wouldn't have been allowed to, and nor does the Salisbury lad singing the same piece (see the youtube sidebar).
