The BBC Singers sang the Bax (Mater Ora Filium) again tonight on Live in Concert. I tuned in especially for it, and have to say it was, to my ears, quite horrible. Sopranos above F (top line treble stave) just shrieked. It's not the wobble I'm complaining about but the forced edgy tone. In contrast, David Hill elicited some lovely string playing from the BBC Concert Orchestra in Finzi's Dies Natalis.
