At risk of taking off at a tangent, am I the only person to be irritated by the current Radio Three trail for this service? It is the woolly reference to 'Saint John's, Cambridge' that galls. Why are the BBC so coy about naming 'St John's College Chapel, Cambridge' -? Are they afraid it might be taken for advertising?

I only mentioned it on this thread because it, too, was on the wrong Sunday!
A shame we had so many hymns; I can get those at home. There were no 'O' antiphons, except squeezed into O come, O come, Emmanuel. The Byrd Rorate coeli was ravishing. After that we had The Lord, He is Good (Mendelssohn, the Apple Tree (Elizabeth Poston), A Spotless Rose (Howells), Tomorrow shall be my dancing day, and Malcolm Williamson's Dawn Carol.
The opening and closing choral pieces were by Gabriel Jackson - settings of I look from afar... and the Vesper responsory Judah and Jerusalem, fear not, nor be dismayed...

Well there you are then Gabriel - a deserved reward for you for having written what is obviously a good piece! Good pieces stay in the repertoire.

I am listening, I just wish I had bought some Christmas Cards to write and therefore feel infused with warm glow, (I fear I've missed the last postal dates for US)

Most enjoyable. A shame though that someone decided to build a college chapel on a road with such noisy traffic!
