a suitable sound-track for a TV doc about a family of squirrels in the Forest of Dene
Decantor. You were clearly traumatised by Beatrix Potter as a child. Yes, music was definitely filmic. I gather Faux (which I think he pronounces as Fawkes... spopils the pun, n'est-ce pas?) is a film composer. And a 'Rev' I think.

'Faux' is 'Fow' as in 'bow tie'; and is indeed ordained. See www.stevenfaux.com and also www.stmichaelsbath.org.uk. Happily I was still in bed when the broadcast took place....

Not according to the pronuciation note at the end of the transcript of the broadcast. This gives "Fow (as in bow tie)".

Indeed it does. Lovely sound. Heard Ian Tracey play it last May Bank Hol - or perhaps the one before - and it was fantastic. Liz

Draco must be, I imagine, an elderly type, albeit an erudite listener and endeared to many for his loyalty to the glorious tradition. I in fact found the Responses quite transcendent, less predictable than many settings. Highly commendable performance by all forces in this broadcast service including many recent compositions of merit.

Puzzled: what was remarkable about the Responses? 'Transcendent'?? Quot homines maybe?
Leighton canticles are 50+ years old - erm.... 'recent'?

                    Dear 130.m,

I think Draco is the wrong target. Any complaints about complaints about responses need to be aimed at me. I can also claim to be 'an elderly type'. But I do like things which are outside the Anglican rut...so for me, the 'glorious tradtion' is ever in need of exciting innovation.

Come along Draco, do keep up! 130.mitFuga was talking about Bath - Whitacre (c2000), Piccolo (late 70s) Joubert (mid-80s) and Part (1990), not St Pauls!

It's been one of those weeks.
                          I'm not normally like this.

Anyway, joy of joys, it's KCC next week.
