I thought it was stunning - the long, long silence at the end said it all really. Wonderful contributions by all, especially Andris Nelsons.

It wasn't immediately obvious, having found the site, how to get the thing streaming. All you had to do was click on the picture. I'm afraid our generation needs a button saying 'start'. I think the youth choir were all girls and mainly 13+. They did a great job....but it probably wasn't quite what BB had in mind! Pity that Warwickshire boys' choir couldn't have joined in too. I was impressed as ever with Mark Padmore, who had some of the expressiveness of Pears but without aping him. Amazing control over his voice production.

I knew how to do it, ardcarp, but it kept saying it couldn't show the webpage.

I've now found a message saying 'Satellite transmission problems due to poor weather'.

I still can't see it, although I have no problems watching other things, like Shakespeare in Arabic from the Globe (which I don't want) on the same site. I don't understand, but will give up for now.

I've never visited that site before, but I kept clicking till something happened: I too am most grateful to Simon B for the link. I'm so glad it worked for me - I think I dared only two breaths throughout, just as I did 50 years ago.

Like Mary C, I too regret that the oboe part was played on the cor anglais, the harp part on the theorbo, and the cello part on da gambas. Those seventeen European nations must be scratching their heads over that - and how they must pity us that our national broadcaster cannot find TV room for such a performance.

We now have two threads going on this, which is rather irritating.

If you let it run for a few seconds the film will start playing!

I think the message may refer to possible interference on the film.

Yes, it's working now! Phew! I may leave it for a bit, as I'm waiting for someone to come and service the boiler, and I feel that might spoil the atmosphere somewhat

WR does have two orchestras! But seriously, perhaps they could be merged ... FF?

Talk about spooky coincidences! We've just had our boiler serviced, and the moment the engineer left I logged on and found PJPJ's helpful message. Looking forward to seeing it later today when my better half gets back!

It would appear that the stream at The Space is provided by the BBC, and that it is the same sort of Flash file (.FLV) as is found on the iPlayer. The same software which can capture such files from the iPlayer can also capture that at The Space. [Nod, nod. Wink, wink.]

[Hmm. Posted too soon. It only seems to capture the audio, not the video, so not even a good as that on the R3 HDS iPlayer facility.]

I'd have to take a decision on which board to leave it on
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Yours was the first posted so should stay IMO. They're good threads about a wonderful work, amazing performance and pathetic BBC. It would be nice to merge them for archive/reference.
