Composer of the Week is devoted to musicians of the Chapel Royal. Todya's ended with a fine performance of farfax's 'Regale' Magnificat.

And wasn't it magnificent? Similarly the Cornysh and other works heard. Such music, like the sun in the sky, does not seek to be inclusive or to manipulate: it just shines with its own radiance. I fear that Pelham Humphrey and Henry Purcell will struggle to compete, but hopefully Donald has a trick or two up his sleeve.

It looks as if Purcell only gets one piece and Humphrey none at all; still there's lots of good stuff, especially Blow on Thursday.

Yes - perhaps I should declare an interest as a relation of mine is one of the basses! They are an unfailingly brilliant ensemble IMO, and their programming is as intelligent and stimulating as their ensemble and sound. A great concert - wish I'd been there.

They are taking the same programme to the Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford-on-Avon, on Saturday, so there's a chance to catch it live, in a less atmospheric but acoustically excellent venue. (Disclaimer: I sometimes sing for one of the basses in this choir.)

Yes indeed - tremendous stuff. And it just went on and on and on. Absolute bliss! (And I have no connection whatever with any of the singers.)

I have to declare an interest too as I know a couple of the members. Indeed, wonderful blend and ensemble and they're seemingly bullet-proof in a live concert. From a purely personal view, I'd like their 'stile' to have just a little more expressiveness and maybe sensuality at times; but perhaps they interpret the word 'antico' differently from me. They've done really well as an ensemble to put themselves on the musical map, so good on 'em.
