    Sunday 15th April: 4 superb R3 hours

Texts and music about faith and atheism, with readings by John Sessions and Claire Harry.

The above is a link to programme info for yesterday's "Words and Music" - absolutely superb! (Sun 15th April 2012)

An afternoon that started well with CE and continued with Aled and a good edition of "The Choir" was completed by a progamme of such interest and variety that one wonders how it hasn't won awards - Radio 3 at its inspiring best, in my view.

Those of us who enjoy English church music at its best may be interested to know that the Psalm from Wabbey (Neary) that appears about an hour into the programme was sung to the famous Wesley chant, transposed to A flat minor. And a very good job they made of it, too.

Thanks for the link to Words and Music. I nearly always forget about it now that it is (for me) at an untenable hour. The rather long, rambling and backward-looking piece by Grechaninov on The Choir wasn't to my taste, but, wow, the Ludford (Domine Jesu Christe) sung by NCO certainly was.
Whatever you think of their approach to trad Anglican stuff, they are in their element with the pre-Ref. I can live without The Parliament Choir, thanks. Glad you had a good Sunday afternoon, Simon.
