    Monteverdi Ascension Cantatas project

http://www.monteverdi.co.uk/ascension - an interesting pairing... (and project)!

Forgive the fundraising plea, but this project needs your help now!

The Ascension Cantatas were due to be recorded as part of the Cantata pilgrimage at Salisbury Cathedral, but extraneous noise made this impossible.

They are due to be performed and recorded at St Giles, Cripplegate on 10 May.

At the moment the Monteverdi Choir claim they have only 70% of the required budget and need to raise another £50,000.

If you donate just £20, you are promised a free CD of the recording (which presumably will constitute Vol.28 of the completed cycle). By my reckoning that's a great deal and all for a good cause. Soli Deo Gloria!

The Virgin Money Giving page is here or you can use the link in P2P's post above to contact the choir.

      I'm in!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Given the amount of arts council contribution in years not very long gone by (Eyes passim) I wonder why they need so much more so soon. I'm not in as I'd say there are more deserving choirs and projects. Sorry!

Ho hum, etc. I feel unable not to say, following an earlier (private and face-to-face) discussion with a fellow forum-ite, that I find it hard to disagree with above sentiment. Perhaps someone will appear to tell me why I'm wrong!
