Haven't heard Chester for a while. Anyone know when they last broadcast? I don't know the Briggs Canticles but if his Mass for Notre Dame is anything to go by, it will have lots of organ in it.

Methinks that's a given, considering the generous amounts of thundering organ on the recent Hyperion CD. Awesome recitalist, though. Have heard him in Gloucester many times. (Just wish I liked the organ a bit better. )

Sorry, but that service sounded ....well, distant, a bit muffled and sort of languid - probably not like that on site, of course, but....? Very difficult to put my finger on it. Very similar tempi for things. Odd.

They're obviously having a bit of a Briggs season since one of the Chester choirs recently sang the Trinity Service, and given what a fine organ that is, you can see why.

Well, I really enjoyed it and was surprised by the excellence of treble tone. It clearly wasn't meant to be a slam bam in-your-face CE. Well done Chester.

I think it was the girls' choir, which at Chester seems to be the lead ensemble.

...Correct, Draco. And I'd prefer "sublime" to drab!

Great broadcast, I really enjoyed the Briggs.

A Happy Christmas to all on the board.
                        Cheers, Jason.

I thought the quality of singing was excellent, great psalm accompaniment and playing generally on the rich Harrison. So much better than the Chester 'noise' , as I gather it was called, back in the 7/80s

I haven't seen either boys or girls for a year or so, but when I last did the girls were much the better of the two.
