It's always good to hear that the broadcast lived up to the live service - so many do not as those who criticise (quite rightly) the knobs in the van or should I say those who control them. I thoroughly enjoyed this service from the introit which was new to me, through via a spirited rendition of Clucas with the Lord's prayer setting. I, like ardcarp feel that JT's music is rather over rated although I feel that this rendition of the canticles were the finest I've heard. The jewel in the crown was the Dove carol anthem with it's dymanic range and colours. I have heard other fine cathedral choirs sing this but not with the conviction and skill shown here.
They are singing at the top of their form these days as their recent television, radio broadcasts and CD recordings testify. I was impressed by a visit to a Sunday evensong some two years ago and this will hasten my return. A big thanks to all concerned in the music department.
