    Antiques Roadshow star on 3

Private Passions today featured pottery expert Henry Sandon. He was a chorister at Worcester and the programme included some Tomkins (lovely early NCO recording) some Berkeley (of course...but Dad) and (also of course) Elgar. But what a civilised and knowledgeable chap Henry is.

Michael Berkeley's guest is English porcelain expert Henry Sandon, from Antiques Roadshow.

when Mr Sandon was talking about Alfred Deller did I hear him say that he had been a member of the Deller Consort?

Yes, a very good programme and brought back happy memories of the Royal Worcester Potteries, Antiques Roadshow, and visits to the Three Choirs Festival at Worcester Cathedral when younger.

I thought I heard that, too. Better check on iPlayer.

Marvellous programme, with such enthusiasm, and very good taste in music (i.e. much the same as mine , apart from the Bernstein, though I can see why he chose it). I loved the Britten clerihew, which I don't remember hearing before:

        The composer of Peter Grimes
        Achieves melody at times,
But he'll never be played on the hurdy-gurdy
        Like Verdi.

I listened again to that bit, and Henry Sandon did say, in a throwaway fashion, that he had sung with Alfred Deller and the Deller Consort. I think it was probably temporary, but I'm impressed all the same.
