It's worth pointing out to you all, if you haven't come across it already, that the choir of St Thomas has recently begun a new recording relationship with Resonus Classics. Their first disc on the label, of Bach Motets, is now available: http://www.resonusclassics.com/bach-...s-fifth-avenue

Sunday, July 5th: Cardinal Vaughan School from UK sing Choral Eucharist: Mozart, Howells and Tallis.
Notable in that the choir solos in the Mozart mass are all taken by the choristers.
The school's Schola is specifically an all boys auditioning unit. The school website says that the School choir offers opportunities for both girls and boys to sing.

Service is available online as indicated above.

Worth catching the latest Evensong from St T - Wed, 7th Oct - if only for the terrific treble ppp singing in the Nunc of Grayston Ives Edington Service.
All services are live and available on webcast.

And a beautifully quiet Howells O Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.

Evensong Nov 4th at St T:
Hylton Stewart Ps 23, and pieces in memory of John Scott by Jonathan Bielby and Andrew Carter.
The men and boys sound in terrific voice.

The Bielby anthem is searing, and brilliantly, brilliantly sung and played

Evensong hangs on the wall of English life like an old, familiar cloak passed through […]

Dec 22nd @ 10.30 p.m. our time: Evensong: Service Canticles Howells / Coll Reg
              Anthem: Ave Maria / Parsons

              Worth staying up for.

And THAT's how you sing Coll Reg!!!

And the Parsons Ave Maria was slow, dignified and soared. How any cleric can manage to speak let alone be articulate after that.......!

An excellent appointment! He is a superb musician and very gifted choir trainer with unique interpersonal skills. They will be delighted. Sad for Magdalen, Oxford, where he was building a prize-worthy tradition.

One for Pedants' Paradise perhaps: Magdalene is in Cambridge; the Oxford college that will be sad on losing Hyde is Magdalen.

Sadly, Nev, it isn't possible to hyde the offending 'e' completely as it's embedded in my quote. Should have spotted it!

Are you trying to be provocative? You can correct my typo. in your own message, unless you have something better to do, such as contributing constructively/commenting on Wolsey's post, rather than taking juvenile potshots from the sidelines. Worth considering!

No, but you quite possibly are.

I meant that I should have spotted it.

My constructive comment was to agree completely with what you had written, give or take the odd letter.
