Well! Quite a performance in the sense of clergy choreography, corybantics, call it what you will. And at one point there was a fairly thorough censing of the choirs. Cough cough. Smells but no bells.
Make sure you've got two and a quarter hours to spare if you want to watch the whole thing. (Hope the choristers had sturdy bladders.)
One point of interest...the only part of the ordinary of the Mass sung needed an organ duet...which the cameras obviously enjoyed.
It was good to see both choirs. I have to say I would have liked a greater proportion of choral music in the proceedings The celebrant had an excellent singing voice, but given the length of the whole thing (which included a complete plainsong narration of the passion story with just a few choral 'crowd' interjections) maybe madam's sermon could have been trimmed a bit....or maybe dispensed with altogether?
Just personal views, of course. It's clearly a long, important and palm-leaf occasion for ST5A.
Thanks, Triforium, for posting it up for our attention.
