Good to have a live cathedral broadcast. Well done Salisbury. In the Radio Times it was billed as being a celebration of César Franck's 200th anniversary. Nothing choral though, just a well-known organ piece at the end. I love the Villette anthem, especially those scrummy chords at the very end. Maybe it was sung a bit 'heavily', but good to hear it. Madeame Villette apparently once said that only an English choir could do full justice to her husband's music!

A moving service with the vast space of the cathedral evident in the sound. Warm, generous singing from the choir. A lovely, calm Villette anthem; I could picture the Frink statue of the Virgin Mary purposely walking away from the cathedral across the Close. Wonderful characteristic registrations in the Franck Chorale.

Some wonderful psalm-singing - at least in my view! Very sustaining in the thick of a traffic jam....
