A gift for the R3 continuity announcer: all the 'superlatives' are there already.
    Excellent! Total! Amazing!

I guess many Choir adherents will hold back on their views until they've heard the service. I'm trying to keep an open mind.

          No doubt there will be much 'Amay - - - - - - - - zing' grace on offer.

I made it to the end of the introit.

            That was my fill!

Another cheap CE done under the banner of ingenuity.

done under the banner of ingenuity.
Inclusivity maybe? I admire St Martin in the Fields for its charity work, especially for the homeless.

I would have thought a Gospel Choir service might have got a wider listenership if it were put on Sunday Worship.

Rather sums up my reaction. I did listen to the whole thing, but it dredged up some unhappy associations and memories for me to do with the imposition of Christianity on African cultures, due to exposure to my mother's support for missionary activities when I was a child. My questions about why these poor native people had to love Jesus in order to be treated by doctors or go to school didn't go down well...
There is something about that style of music being fitted into western CofE traditions and texts that I'm afraid I just don't ever feel comfortable with. However that's just my opinion, and I realise there are counter arguments.

Switched on the radio; decided I’d tuned into the wrong station; was about to switch off, but then realised it really was radio 3; decided to give it a chance; decided that the amount of repetition made Einaudi sound exciting (Bruckner too ); persisted for a while; thought the BBC might be foisting it on us as the thin end of another wedge; decided not to punish myself further.

Please not again, Radio 3! Thank Heavens for the Royal Holloway service since.
