    Finding Rutter... help, please Anyone?

We were driving home in the car just now (between 5pm and 6pm on Saturday 10th Sept) and there was a stunning performance of Rutter's Requiem, with a superb soloist. Presumably on Radio 3. Alas we only caught part of it and missed the end announcement. Having searched the R3 website, the programme appeared to be about Masters of the Queen's Music...and Rutter wasn't one such.

I'd really like to track this down, so any help will be gratefully received!

I s'pose it could have been on Classic FM. No idea how to search there!

The only choral piece that R3 had in that hour was Walton's Drop drop... It's not on Scala's playlist for that time, and Classic FM appear to have suspended their online track listings for the duration.

Thanks cat. It was on Classic FM (the car radio was on Mrs A's default mode!) but all the cobblers involved in registering to get it online (passwords, size of inside leg, etc) just isn't worth the hassle! But if anyone knows the performers [was it The Cambridge singers with Rutter at the helm?] I'd be glad to know. I'm not a huge Rutter fan, but I've sung in his Requiem several times in the past and have been pleased at the reception it got from audiences. And that treble/soprano Pie Jesu is rather special in a Rutterish sort of way..

Is their website always that useless or is it just today as cat says? All I can find is that this is their recommended recording
        Caroline Ashton (soprano); Donna
dean (soprano); Patricia Forbes (soprano); Cambridge Singers; City of London Sinfonia; John Rutter (conductor). Collegium: CSCD 504.

Not sure if this helps, but https://www.classical-music.com/reviews/rutter-1/ is well reviewed in BBCMM.

So, I wonder what their excuse for this is?

Time of national mourning/stricken with grief
            Staff absence due to Covid
            WFH
We're very busy at this time...

Thanks odders. I did suspect it was Rutter's lot. They are so good. And that sop singing the Pie Jesu was incredible. However there seem to be two CDs
available, 1. The Cambridge Singers and 2. Clare College, conducted by Timothy Brown. Alas none of the online info I can find specifies the sop soloists, and I want the one I heard on Classic FM today!

And yes the Classic FM website is a nightmare.

My favourite movement is The Lord is my Shepherd. I absolutely love playing the oboe obligato.

I think I saw the Clare College recording mentioned as I was circling the website trying to make sense of it. In both cases I wouldn't like to say that is what you heard - or do they tend to be limited in what recordings are broadcast so chances are it is?
I don't know what they are like re listener communication but might an email query - or twitbook - elicit the info do you think?
For some reason I had assumed that the website would be better than the R3 one...

If you go to the Presto site you can sample some of the recordings, and there might just be enough in each track to let you identify the version you heard and would like to have:

Curiouser and curiouser! But thanks. I'll ask someone in the biz if they know what I'm after.

Or is it worth emailing Classic FM directly?
