I love Giles Swayne's Magnificat! So rhythmically vibrant, and so different from much anodyne modern composition! The Holst Nunc is great too. In Latin and written in 8 parts.

PS For those who haven't heard the Swayne Mag before, there's a very tidy version from NCO (Higginbottom...I heard them do it live)

...and before we listen, it may be of interest to know that St Stehen's House is "a permanent private hall within the University of Oxford".

Well directed, professional.....but the soprano sound? Possibly not popular with some Forumistas. The top notes towards the end of the Swayne Mag sounded rather shrieked. The Byrd Fantasia at the end showed what a consummate musician he was. One of my favourite books which lives permanently on top of the piano is My Ladye Nevell's book. Great to dip into.
