We've also had 'the real thing' from Merton and Lincoln to name two recent superb CEs. This was up there with them and was no wet Thursday afternoon eavesdropping. What superb psalm 'production'. I look forward to a promised cd devoted to the psalms from St John's.

Only two words can I utter through tears of joy. Utterly fabulous.

I agree entirely with ardcarp's two words.
This Thursday's 6.30pm evensong from St John's is due to be live streamed on Facebook by Classic FM -- including Psalm 139, Kelly in C, Elgar 'Give unto the Lord' and Praise my soul the King of heaven (with a Christopher Robinson descant.)

They were on again this morning on Radio 4’s Sunday Worship: a celebration of the life and works of the metaphysical poet George Herbert. The baritone soloist in ‘Rise Heart’ from RVW’s Mystical Songs was magnificent, as of course was the choir’s contribution throughout. We even had the ‘John’s Button’ pressed a couple of times in ‘Let all the World’ (on ‘sing’). The organist was, naturally, the brilliant George Herbert.

A celebration of the life and works of the priest and poet George Herbert.

[Kelly in C - sang it this evening and loathed it once again.]

This felt just like wondering into a mid-week evensong, unlike some of the big occasion efforts we hear on the radio sometimes. Well worth catching up with while it's still available:
