Love the Tallis short service. Not so often heard on CE. Very suitable for Lent. In fact an altogether interesting music list.

...and quite brave to do an anthem with two treble parts, ably sung by the girls!

Enjoyed the service greatly sitting by the fire on a particularly wet and gloomy day.

Beautifully sung with just the right Lenten atmosphere (for want of a better word.)The psalms the highlight for me.

Nice to hear Ebdon's Responses again: they're not so common nowadays and I think it's a great shame, since they can stand better than any other setting - and we know that there are few or none other coeval settings! - alongside anthems and canticles from the 18th century to the Victorian era. Moreover, they're not that bad...

Very much enjoyed this broadcast which was a good reminder how effective a smorgasbord CE can be. Highlights for me the psalmody, wistfulness of the Amens of Ebdon's responses - enhanced by the acoustics of Truro Cathedral, and the superb performance of Nikolaus Bruhns' great E minor Praeludium: tempi, ornamentation and stylus phantasticus agogic natural and sensitive, proving that the (lack of) choice of instrument can be almost irrelevant (although there seemed to be some strange interference effects during the last pedal note - I was wondering if the wind supply was at its limit). Many thanks to all involved.
