      Erm...............right, so nobody listened?
Frankly, sound a bit tired and un-incisive - trick in that acoustic, yes, but...but.....

Exploration of the gradation of the soft range of dynamics appears to be unfashionable, as is the notion of being able to hear the words and pray along with the choir. I am very sorry Mr DracoM that you were so disappointed.
Looking for the "mic-drop" emoji... brilliant. Just listened on a walk to St Pancras from the Mercer's Company - really lovely and prayerful. Well done all.

Well, for me. sorry, but the acoustic, or the way it was recorded, spoiled it more than was helpful.
I know the place reasonably well, and have heard much better things there than we had on R3.

Well I enjoyed it very much. It wasn't perfect, but is anything, ever? It was really lovely to hear a well-balanced, well-blended choir that is able to sing softly. There was an atmosphere of true devotion – blessedly free of any hint of concert-giving. I very much enjoyed the Whitlock too. The only thing I didn't care for was the delivery of psalm 49, which, for me, sounded too hurried and not world-weary enough. I'd like to hear that chant to a happier psalm though.

I think the general silence is probably that most people think critiquing evensongs on an internet forum is a bit old hat. And the arguments on here are all the same… it’s all boy choristers and openly pissing on the work of excellent choral directors and singers!

I think that generalisation is rather wide of the mark, but I accept it could be just an attempt at provocation. I listen to most of the CE broadcasts, either direct or on the Sunday repeat, but don't always feel it necessary (or, occasionally desirable) to comment. The number of people available (as in interested in CE) to comment on here is not large so it is inevitable that there will be times when such comment is thin or non-existent on Wednesday for various reasons, not least of which is listening at a later date.

I've rather given up posting here as I found I was being patronised. I enjoyed this evensong, my only regret being that I wish they'd found time for a hymn.

I enjoyed this service immensely and I was very moved by the singing and the spoken elements of the worship. The prayerful Stanford Introit set the contemplative mood. The psalms were delivered with strong communication and colour. The anthem continued the penitential theme, a consolatory mood being found in the short exquisite plainsong and lyrical voluntary. The lessons were superbly delivered with great drama and intensity. The Gospel and Intercessions very apt for the present crisis even though they were delivered last November. Thank you to all for a CE that will be treasured in my memory for a long time.

Oh please don't give up, Mopsus! Hope I've never been guilty of the above offence! I haven't heard this CE yet 'cos we've just had a mini-trip to France...despite the paperwork. Look forward to catching up tomorrow. On the subject of 'silence' i.e. an occasional low number of posts, one has to bear in mind that satisfied customers often don't see the need to comment. The Choir sub-forum usually has quite high 'viewing figures'.

Lovely calm CE, appropriate for the season even if (as mentioned above) it was put in the can last year. Look forward to Truro next week...but also sung last year! I find the BBC's CE website is a bit naughty saying 'from Truro Cathedral' which many would infer as being in real time. Can't they be honest and use the word 'recorded' in the header?
