I'm looking forward to a live cathedral broadcast! (Obviously no St John's this year and no Allegri.)

Nothing against Allegri but other Ash Wednesday pieces are available and good that’s proved this year. I heard this choir during Advent and they were very impressive and keen. Each singer walked on with a tablet containing the whole service, no books or sheets of paper. Now that’s the way forward surely.

Pessimistic response. I bet ‘until it goes wrong’ was a response to organs when they were introduced replacing gallery bands. Let’s see what happens tomorrow.

Vol for me much the most memorable piece.

Wow, big splendid Bach at the end, but did this fit with the solemn, Lenten mood of the rest of the service? I would have preferred a shorter voluntary and then there would have been time for 'Forty days' to round off the excellent prayers.
Lovely singing quite distantly balanced with a feel of the vast spaces of Lincoln. Oddly all was much nearer and clearer in the anthem which I enjoyed the most with excellent solos.

I feel the big Bach C minor does work (and certainly appreciate its excellent performance here today even on such a fundamentally romantic instrument as the wonderful Lincoln Willis), but understand your preference for something like aus tiefer not BWV686.
Really good to hear the Greene again which seems to have rather fallen out of favour these days - it's a great piece and works so well.
Congratulations and many thanks to all in my favourite building on the planet.
