From the very first notes of this CE I knew I was in for a wonderful experience. Congratulations to everyone involved and especally to the girls in their 25 anniversary year; they sound to be in superb fettle! A lovely, confident sound from the top line - quite a large section? The enginnering caught the acoustic just right with good separation across the choir. The Gray canticles are new to me - I must investigate further! The anthem had just the right amount of mystery about it and the final voluntary fitted the Klais like a glove, making a resplendent ending! Thank you everyone.

Yes, I was glad to hear Alan Gray's F minor canticles again. I think they are well written and unusual for their time. Quite brave of Bath to do a double choir unacc. setting! Alan Gray was O&C of Trinity College Cambridge in the very early 20th century. In my lay clerk days we used to do them quite often, but they seem to appear more rarely on cathedral music lists nowadays. Glad you enjoyed them.

I wonder if Herbert Howells ever thought his famous Rhapsody would be played on a German (nearly) neo-classical organ! Yes it sounded good. That opening has such an impact...quite unique.

This was the girls top line - the boys recorded a Morning Worship for broadcast on the 6th of March on R4.
