Apologies, but nowhere on R3 schedule etc pages does it indicate whether this is either Live or Pre-recorded or from Archives.

Recorded earlier this month. There’s also a pre-recorded service coming from Our Lady of Victories, Kensington with Oliver Latry improvising on the new organ (also recorded this month).

        The Tallis is sublime.

          It is.

Listen for ten minutes or so from 1:00:17 during communion in Truro Cathedral yesterday (available for one week only):

Unusually, the plainsong was sung by a boy chorister.

I too love Videte Miraculum. The plainsong bits aren't that easy, being somewhat angular. So the young chap at Truro did a great job. It's a repeating piece, and I particularly like the accumulative effect of that phrase 'cognoscit'. (A slightly strange thing happens when the music seems to stop and the tenors start it off again with a seemingly random note.Tenors' moment of glory.) Look forward to Vespers tomorrow.

Drat! I'd been looking forward to the Tallis but I now have to be teaching when it's on!

Sorry, but for me, worthy though the enterprise might have been - on paper - , the bewilderingly foggy acoustic, some laboured tempi and in places approximate tuning made this a difficult broadcast to love.

The repertoire was fine - truly love much of it.........but...maybe it was trying to fit a bit too many voices in? I just don't know.

The service will be repeated on Sunday afternoon so you can catch up then.

I found it fascinating. A Catholic Vespers, at its best, has continuity, and everyone here knew exactly what they were doing and when. Yes, it was a large-ish choir (I guess) and in a very resonant acoustic. It is very difficult to get plainsong sung like that with groups who are not brought up with it. To the manner born here. Videte Miraculum had a sort of HIPP feeling about it.

Does anyone have any info about the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial (comprehensive!) School, and its Schola Cantorum?

The sort of school to which Tony Blair might have sent his sons (they attended London Oratory school in Fulham).

The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School is a 4 form entry Catholic secondary academy located in Holland Park in the Archdiocese of Westminster. 956 on roll (2018); Boys 11-18, girls 16-18.

Music plays a central role in the life of the Vaughan and the School takes great pride in the very high standards of the music-making.

'The Schola Cantorum is the liturgical boys choir of The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School.

Schola Cantorum | Schola Cantorum Cardinal Vaughan

'There are a busy few months ahead for the Schola with the choir, alongside its regular liturgical duties, also providing the children's chorus for operas at both the Royal Opera House (Tosca) and English National Opera (La bohème)... On Wednesday 23 March, at St James's, Spanish Place, the Schola will sing JS Bach's St John Passion, accompanied by period instrument orchestra St James' Baroque.'

You can, of course, catch up at any time - not just on Sunday afternoon.
