Please note that Croydon Minster CE scheduled for today has had to be cancelled.
Still awaiting news of a replacement.
Will post as soon as I have relevant details.

On the plus side they did manage to get the cancelled message up in good time online on the schedule listing - not something one can take for granted these days?
Given the difficulties with such things these days it does seem a bit odd though that there isn't a Plan B - cancellations are surely always a possibility now.

        Exactly my reaction.

        Covid crash-landing apparently.

I have no wish to usurp anyone's role and no intention of treading on anyone's toes, but here is the information about this afternoon's CE . It comes from Manchester Cathedral and was broadcast previously on 17 December 2014.

Introit: Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland, BWV 61(i) (J.S. Bach)
          Responses: Christopher Stokes
          Psalm 89 vv1-19 (Barnby)
Office hymn: Creator of the stars of night (Mode iv)
          First Lesson: Isaiah 39
          Canticles: Sumsion in G
          Second Lesson: Matthew 17 vv14-21
          Anthem: Vox dicentis: Clama (Naylor)
Hymn: Hills of the North, rejoice (Little Cornard)
Amen, Amen, komm du schöne Freudenkrone BWV 61(vi) (J.S. Bach)
Voluntary: Prelude & Fugue in B minor BWV 544 (J.S. Bach)

Christopher Stokes, Organist and Master of the Choristers
          Jeffrey Makinson, Sub-organist

          First broadcast 17 December 2014

            Woops!
I dared to shop and eat before re-investigating to discover..................

            Thx.

But I repeat my exasperation on BBC posting: the CE office had known since MONDAY that the Croydon Ce was NOT going ahead, so why so long in replacing on published schedules?

Apparently they also tried St M-in-the-Fs ...same prob.

Poor ardcarp being exposed to Sumsion canticles two weeks in a row! I liked the transcription of the BWV 61 opening chorus: the organ part a little laboured and in need of tracker action (which, I understand, is now available), but the vocal lines with nice, appropriate ornamentation. I am looking forward to the complementary transcription of the always exhilarating 'in medias res', ascending and triumphant conclusion of BWV 61 later.

In fairness an alternative live CE was being attempted rather than an archive recording, so I think some credit is due. That explains the lack of a published alternative service list.
                  The Manchester CE sounds splendid.

If a degree of uncertainty about who was broadcasting CE this week is the one of the most annoying and disruptive things that’s happened to you in recent days, you’re extremely lucky. Singers everywhere are dropping like flies, and asymptomatic people who test negative in the morning are testing positive in the evening, sometimes taking numbers of colleagues down with them in the interim. It’s almost impossible to plan what’s happening tomorrow, never mind in a few days’ time. It really is that bad.

But if that information had been made available then credit could be given. Is it really so difficult, given that a certain amount of notice of the cancellation existed, to provide an update/holding message somewhere. An autoreply to email? That would then have deflected the "why no Plan B" criticism.

Perhaps the BBC are suffering staff absences too?

I noted the basses did not join in the ‘appropriate ornamentation’.

1.Our job on this Forum is to administer / find / set / post the weekly CE schedules.
                              2. If there is confusion, I contact various sources.
                              3. Some sources are responsive and helpful.
                              4. By and large, the BBC sources are less so - esp - weirdly - the CE office in Salford.
                              5. It is Covid-time. You might therefore have expected some ONGOING contingency plans to be extant in case of covid-affected and thus inevitable scheduling probs.
                              6. The Croydon problem was known at the very least by the MONDAY of THIS week.
                              7. Contingency plan? Ahem.............? Yes, an on-screen explanation that details of a replacement would be placed 'shortly'.
                              8. Up to midday on the very day of transmission, there seemed to be either no plan, or no attempt to make details available online to the listening public.
                              9. Ahem x 2?
                              10. In global terms, yes, an infinitesimally tiny prob, BUT for some, it is an important part of their day - a part which it is the hosts' job to help keep logged.
