    Whilst not wishing to diminish the Spirit of Christmastide, I have to disagree! It's a personal thing, though no doubt shared by others, that the Prayer Book CE makes no allowance for ad lib interruptions by clergy or anyone else. Exceptions are right at the start, and as an Introit is not specified, it could be after that. As an anthem IS mentioned 'in quires and places where they sing' there should definitely not be an interruption there, so I suppose the very briefest announcement (title and composer) might be justified. Otherwise, verbiage should be reserved until after The Grace.

      Mr A, the C of E doesn’t have to follow the BCP. Other forms of worship are allowed with mixing and matching, old and new.
