Early posting - bit busy early next week, so thought I'd get ahead with duties!

Merton tell me this is off - too much COVID in Oxford. I don't know what will replace it.

It's a shame to lose the Berkeley service - his music has rather fallen out of the repertoire since his death, as he no longer ticks the 'living composer' box. He studied at Merton and retained a lifelong affection for the college.

Merton first broadcast Choral Evensong in autumn 2011. (Though that was not the first CE broadcast from Merton College Chapel; the Arcadian Singers of Oxford, including a number of Mertonians, had broadcast one a few years earlier.)
I attended the 2011 service and a couple of other more recent broadcasts. They broadcast at least every other year and sometimes have recorded an evensong alongside the live one; they were to have done that this week. I'm a former member of the College and its chapel choir (in the pre-choral foundation days) and a Friend of Merton chapel choir, so I get informed - not always with much notice - about choir events.

"Told you my records were a mess......................."

.................the again, if you also contrive to look in the WRONG section of your own docs, and then proclaim a truth, it's likely you will be doubly wrong...
                - as I have just been / done in my previous very stupid assertion about Merton's appearances.........

btw - good webcasts on their site too.

I see the BBC have found a suitable archive recording from Chester Cathedral.

You can probably forgive yourself this heinous misdemeanour! I’m sure we are collectively grateful for the generally accurate info shared usually

No information yet on the BBC CE webpage concerning the planned recording from Merton scheduled for broadcast on 25th August.
