Thanks. That spells out that is is the Troparion for the Ascension, which is appropriate for the liturgical season. It does not state which English translation is being used.

I've just been listening to the programme and heard some extremely odd sounds right at the end, something akin to either a pneumatic drill being used in the Church or a distant machine gun (?) Was this heard by anyone else, or is my DAB radio playing tricks on me?

I heard it on the car radio. I wondered first of all if this was extreme contemporary composition....but no, I don't think Alan Gibbs went in for explosives.
Anyone have first-hand info ?
