…. And as always, finding oneself on an unfamiliar instrument less than 48 hours prior to a live broadcast in a different part of the building to ones usual home, none of this is taken into account when our beloved commentators make suggestion.

Are we allowed to know who provided the electronic - presumably at short notice?

I know Viscount tend to be very quick off the mark in these circumstances......

In any case, the playing gave nothing away about the "crisis" behind the scenes!

No problem. They posted on FaceBook about it.

Ah - Facebook is unknown territory as far as I'm concerned. So renewed thanks for acting as a conduit.

It has its uses - not least lovely services live-streamed from up and down this isle, and notifications.

I'm sure you're right, but I'm put off by the unwelcoming attitude (log in, log in, log in, log in) and the fact that so much can't be viewed without joining, which I refuse to do for a variety of reasons.

The few times I have ventured there I always come away feeling a bit tainted to be honest......

Only just caught up with this broadcast (& this thread) - great job, nothing untoward sprung to my ears, quite the contrary. The final Bach I found totally compelling, as well
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I'm the only member of our household who isn't on Facebook. I find it odd that some cathedrals which have taken the trouble to stream services online have used Facebook as their conduit. Surely it must be a Closedbook to many of an older generation...a generation most likely to seek comfort from a choral service?

YouTube much more accessible surely? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn1WGD6qaVw

Many of them are on YouTube as well along with their own websites.

                          Going back over old territory...

though very jerkily played in the hymn....
....I've just heard the whole CE, and Noel Nouvelet is beautifully accompanied, IMVHO of course. That old French tune, for all its Dorian mode, needs to be quite sprightly, especially so sung to those Spring-like words. Well sung and played! Brahms beautifully accompanied too.

Changing the subject, I remember well the old Trinity College building in Mandeville Place. It was Victorian to the core...lots of dark mahogany and a faint whiff of wax furniture polish.* The wonderfully named Myers Foggin was the Principal in those days....which shows how old I am! The premises had obviously outlived their usefulness from the point of view of space, but I enjoyed my visits there in the past. I'd like to visit the Greenwich HQ sometime. Quite a catch for Trinity/Laban.

                          * See some exterior and interior pics of Mandeville place amongst this lot: https://www.alamy.com/trinity-colleg...330382607.html

You’re absolutely right about Facebook Mr A. When I was active as a school teacher we were recommended not to join as it was a haven of nastiness and an avenue for anonymous vendettas. YouTube is universal and just the vehicle for streaming worship. Why bother with anything else?

Practical considerations: YouTube, for most uses, requires direct internet access, something which not all churches have. A public Facebook stream (which does not require a Facebook account to view) can run from just a smartphone - the result may not be brilliant, but seems adequate for small churches (such as the one I attend). Smartphone to YouTube requires a channel with at least 1000 subscribers.
