Some challenging singing here, especially in the anthem-attacked with great gusto but not very attractive at first hearing. Can anyone please explain the way of singing the psalms practised here of oozing out certain words? It's done with conviction but to me sounds lopsided and doesn't make for a rewarding listen, IMHO of course! Wonderful reading of the Job lesson and utterly terrific voluntary - Bravo!

I think it has been discussed in the past how there was something in the water at Oxford which caused idiomatic chanting. New College (otherwise one of my very favourite choirs in Higginbottom's day) was the most extreme example.

Wonderful reading of the Job lesson and utterly terrific voluntary - Bravo!
            Glorieux.

BTW I wonder how many cathedral DoMs go on to become professional psychotherapists...as Francis Grier did.

Nice singing and playing from the - now retired - Stephen Darlington and his team.
But... today is not St. Perpetua and Felicita's day, so the music list was absolutely unrelated to the current Lent season, which is a quite disappointing thing!

When the CE is an archive recording, the page on BBC site isn't a new one but a link to the page of the first broadcast is made instead (in fact in 2012 we had the King's Cam-Christ Church Ox-Durham succession)

In my hands, any website would be a total shambles. However, one would have thought our National Broadcaster might employ a few brainy people who could get things right? Another web page that is often not quite up-to-speed is that of The Early Music Show.

However today's CE not synching with the liturgical calendar didn't spoil my enjoyment one bit...and wouldn't even if I'd realised it!

Ahem........and there was I hoping to be helping Forumistas over the next few weeks and warning them off the R3 schedule page.
...........hey ho! Every move brings a rap on knuckles!

Not sure I was convinced by what felt pretty laboured psalm singing? Nice reaadings.
Anthem hair-raisingly demanding for singers and congregation alike?. OK-ish. Will listen again
