Exeter (the city) is quite lucky to have half-a-dozen very competent 'straight' sopranos among its denizens, all of whom are worthy of being in one of the national professional consorts (some have been). Alas (or should I say good for them?) they have careers which earn them a good living outside music. However Tim Noon knows them and has been using some with a few lay clerks for streamed services. Hence the Ash Weds service last week.
