Their Fresher's Service, which was streamed online a couple of weeks ago, had the same introit, canticles and anthem. It was well worth hearing.

.......erm, sorry, but, for me, the best things about that was the vol.

....and that was beautifully played and balanced.
As often with College ensembles, top dominant, and as for lads - time to catch up in later years etc etc.....but the bass end of the spectrum tends to be a little less virile.

Really? I thought it was good - Dyson was very sensitive and it was lovely to hear the Bullock introit sung with such feeling. We don't hear the Aylward responses very often and the psalms were nicely paced! Only my opinion of course!

Agree! Beautifully calm, controlled singing with clearly delivered spoken elements. Great colours from the organ, which comes as no surprise from this instrument. A January CE was also recorded so more to look forward to.

Absolutely agree. It was the sort of well-blended sound much loved by followers of the so-called 'Anglican tradition'. IMV there are many ways for choirs to perform the said tradition and I like them all, provided they are musical, and today the phrasing was superb. I have to admit to not liking the anthem much...I fall out of love with it (a long time ago) where the organ part starts sounding like a touch-typist entering a w-p-m competition.But that does not detract from an excellent live broadcast. So good to have them on air again.

Nevertheless, I thought the men-only verse in the psalm came off better than a similar venture in one other recent broadcast.
