Rejoice! I didn’t know how much I’d missed the live sung service until I heard this. Terrific singing of well known fare. They could have sung from the Highway Code* and it would have been OK. Thank you Sam Wells, Andrew Earis, Ben Giddens and singers.

Different choirs each time.

I assume that it's easier in the current situation to set up one venue for weekly live broadcasting (with all the attendant problems of cleaning etc, maybe they even leave the kit in place) rather than try and go to other places at the moment.

Quite. I think we should rejoice (as people have above) that the BBC is again, and against the odds, taking a lead in bringing us live music, and now liturgical, broadcasting (see also the lunchtime concerts and, soon, some Proms). Why the reflex negativity?

A thoroughly satisfying broadcast as far as I am concerned and in my opinion managing to achieve both the spiritual and musical functions that are the mark of a good evensong - and which is why many who are not 'religious' or regular churchgoers will choose to listen or attend if they are able.

How much incentive / hope / opportunity does it give other ensembles outside the capital?
Is this where music / Arts etc are going? ie. even more metrocentric than before?
Even with rpts from earlier years. it reminds us all of the sheer breadth of / traditions of the singing world in UK religious or otherwise.

My view is that the BBC should maintain a sense of responsibility it has to the WHOLE nation.

Sorry, but I am very disappointed by this upcoming CE sequence.
