He's resigning because of the stress his decision has put him under. I assume, whatever we may think, that he had felt he was doing the right thing - I have no idea what his reasons were and share musicians' anger. Still.......

I really hope that someone still there backtracks fast and gets the choir back into business in the cathedral.

Just one guy seems to have managed to destroy something that - certainly when I heard the choir a few years ago - was absolutely top-notch. That's a heavy responsibility to bear, but one that he chose to carry - in spite of an awful lot of people asking him to think again.
