Stunning. One of my favourite YouTube Clips. I remember watching the whole service live on TV

I certainly don't want to make a habit of plugging albums here but Martin Baker's final recording with the choir is released today, recorded last spring:

The Choir of Westminster Cathedral is world famous for its staple of plainsong and polyphony. The choir explores a wealth of music from this repertoire for the richest of liturgical seasons: Holy Week.

......and, I fear, more than amply demonstrates the major issues for the Drome and the UK / London Catholic community behind his sad departure

The Telegraph has an in-depth story about a family from Wales whose three sons have had to abandon the school and the choir.

Needless to relate the Catholic hierarchy comes out of it badly, particularly an arrogant refusal by Nichols to see the family. He does sound totally out of touch and rather aloof (and I'm choosing my words very carefully there).

(I should add that one needs a sub to read the whole thing).

Laters: The Telegraph have clearly got it in for Westminster Cathedral, there's a second article:

Telegraph merely putting into public domain what has been smouldering under current cardinal for some time.
Guess: Cardinal ain't getting out of this one so easily. There are those in and around Brum who have words to say on all this too.

I spoke to a lovely 85-year-old lady earlier today who tries to keep some sort of music going in 3 different RC churches. She regards music as a vital part of the Opus Dei. She studied at the RCM, and has bemoaned the state of music in the Roman Church since Vatican II. She knew all about the WC debacle and is sad that one of the few flagships of musical excellence is lowering its ensign to half mast.

                    And yet more today:

Given that the wretched Nichols seems to be so arrogant and immovable, I for one am delighted that the newspaper is trying to smoke him out.

Not sure how many will be leaping to His Eminence's support.

"The Daily Telegraph is a newspaper with a great past, a pathetic present and an uncertain future. Its ownership is in doubt. Its profits have plummeted. Its editorial slavishness to the prime minister has turned it into such a laughing stock that it is now widely known as the “Daily Boris”."

I think many believe that the Guardian has been a joke for as long as can be remembered. Pot and kettle....

But that's not my point; at least The Telegraph is publicising the idiotic situation at Westminster Cathedral and the intransigence of such people as Nichols.

I suppose this makes a change from its previous moniker, the Daily Torygraph.

Indeed and it is excellent to see this being publicised. It's a shame that it's all behind a paywall, but I understand the need for such things.

                                Touched a nerve

Coverage has been pretty wide I think:
